I have a new project: make a bag a day for the next five days! Think I can swing it? This is the first one. It’s a purple chrysanthemum print body with a fan pattern strap. Not very big, but there’s enough space for a snack or a lunch inside.
I’m making a handful for a few of Beth’s teachers from this year. She’s graduating from preschool, and I thought of giving something handmade as a special gift. Three of her teachers have expressed interest in my craftiness and I thought they’d like this kind of thing. After all, what woman do you know who would turn down a handsome tote?
I may try boxing the bottom so it will stand upright a bit. Not sure yet. This very basic bag is from Sew What? Bags, a “pattern-free” book that gives a lot of helpful tips on bag-making. I have altered the size/shape.
Also, I wondered if anyone has tried fusible velcro… I picked some up and thought I might try it for a top closure. Hm, do you also have to stitch it down somehow?
We’ll see if I can make three and then a couple more for some other gifts. Maybe I’ll keep going after that…
I’m taking a break from quilting my rainbow quilt.
The meandering around the whole center is complete but now I need to figure out what to do for the rainbow batik border. I started experimenting with a petal design but am planning to rip it out since it looks too funky. Hm.
Also still making those orange peels. I realized I need to make a few more with dark backgrounds. More on that soon.
New moto: Have fabric, will sew:)
