It’s back to school at our house, and here are two cute lunch totes for two cuties! These were made for my daughters by my friend Lisa, knitter extraordinaire and creative sewist. Each fabric features a food theme – cupcakes and cherries, two of our favs – and each bag has a perfect little handle and drawstring closure. Lisa designed this pattern herself. And inside, we found something extra handy:
The shiny steel food container was a BIG hit with my kids. They found its silvery surface really cool. And it should be safer than plastic. Tip to parents driving their kids around: these metal containers made a huge noise when kids open and close them in the back seat, so in the name of not distracting the driver, I asked the girls to not play with them in the car.
“Real” school is already upon us. It’s hard for me to believe that my older daughter started Kindergarten yesterday…
She was eager to get in and get started:
It must have gone well, because she came home filled with ideas for cutting and gluing, writing new “stories,” doing origami, and working on her beading projects. I nurture this creativity at home and and fingers crossed, it will be encouraged at school, too – the more crafting, the better!
Here’s her first project from her new school. So sweet:
