It IS 3-d! I’ve made progress on this updated attic windows quilt for my older daughter that I wrote about in August. At first I was dubious about this pattern. I wasn’t sure it would have any depth because it each window has four sides, unlike the traditional version, in which each window has just two sides (a book I used calls it “double attic windows,” a revision of the old design). But lo-and-behold, it looks fairly three-dimensional and quite charming. Now, if I could just get myself to cut out some borders and finish that sashing. I sort of hate making sashing, though it does look rather fine in these windows.
It would be fun to make this pattern with a more realistic-looking garden fabric for the window centers. This way, it’s more abstract. And of course it’s girly and should be cute for a child’s room.
