I launched this blog in spring 2010 to share my love of crafts, specifically quilting, sewing, and knitting, as well as thoughts about parenting and creativity in our busy world.
I am a Northern California-based mother, writer and editor, and I like to think of myself as an artist in my “free time.” I’ve always loved painting and drawing, and got into knitting a few years ago (after trying it out as a teenager, I returned as a mom!). Then, after viewing exhibits of Gee’s Bend quilters and antique Amish quilts, I knew I’d found a calling in quilt-making. My passion for quilting arts consumed me – I find that the range of color, pattern, design, and texture elements that quilt-makers can explore is never-ending and always-exciting. My interests range from traditional quilting to hand appliqué to modern, contemporary, and art styles.
I’ve also had a longterm interest in beading and jewelry-making. In 2014 I got back into that art form and am pursuing it with gusto. Who knows what I might try next? (As a teen, I did a lot of calligraphy. Maybe I should take that up again!)
Please browse through my project photos and stop by for the tidbits of information I seem to gather wherever I go, which I like to pass on to others.
Comment if you have a moment and let me know what you think!
